Kitchen Crafty – progress report

Morning.  Just wanted to let you know that some of the kitchen crafty fabrics are on their way so you won’t have to wait too much longer to see them.

Because I’m  in the trial stages, the project is evolving along three different directions. One surprising off-shoot emerging is…..

Kids Kitchen Crafty!

I’m always really inspired by how all three of our kids like to cook – more specifically, how they love to bake. A few years ago, their lovely grandma gave them one of these each for Christmas. Aren’t they great? They have little tummy buttons, bottoms, hands and feet.

So I did a bit of doodling and came up with a whole cast of cooking friends – here are some of them.

And some fun combinations colours too….

These are now being printed into what I hope will work out to be kids’ apron sewing kits – it’s very exciting. Have a great day!

Nelson Neighbours

I’d like to share a little bit of my beautiful neighbourhood with you. Here in Nelson we are very lucky to be in the company of some very creative and artistic people – this place seems to attract and pour out ‘creativeness’.

So I plan to regularly introduce you to some of my arty and crafty neighbours….

First up is one of my favourite local painters Lory Davis, who works on her beautiful, colourful and vibrant works from her studio on Nile St.

As well as capturing the amazing colours and sights of New Zealand, there’s a lot of pattern in her work too. My heart smiles every time I see one of her pieces.

More Pink Patchwork Fabrics

I’ve added another cheater cloth -its a bit like a nine-patch quilting project -only you don’t have to measure, cut and sew all those squares together.

And there’s some new separate co-ordinating fabrics to go with it too….

All available at Spoonflower….check it out.

The blue colourway of the 9 patch cheater cloth is on its way soon too – I’m just waiting to aprove my sample before putting it on the marketplace.

Personalised Textile Design Service

…will be available very soon from Design Crafty!

Turn your drawings, doodles, paintings, collages or photos into a repeating pattern for textile printing and other crafty projects.  You could use your kids’ beautiful art too.

More details soon.  Hope you have a great weekend!

Amended – 17th March 2011. Apologies for the delay of further details. Quite a big commercial project landed in my email recently so I need to pop the custom prints launch on the back burner for a little longer. I promise to be back soon though.

Purple Cake Day

All things cake and purple today; which can’t be bad. If you would like to know more about this very worthwhile day, go here….. Donated funds will go to help rebuild children’s lives following the devastating earthquakes in Haiti and also very recently in Christchurch.

Last night I baked quite a few cupcakes – my daughter iced and decorated them and took them off for a sale at school.

This morning I was inspired to dig out some purple stash and make these fat-free, no sugar, zero calorie purple cake badges to help with the fundraising at kindy.

Our thoughts, love and good wishes are with all those who are grieving and hurting.
